[NEWS] 2015 Award Shows, Film Premieres, TV Series & a Wedding!?

Jennifer & Justin Theroux at 'Cake' premiere (2014).
Could the actress take time from her busy schedule in 2015, which already consists of attending several award shows including the 72nd Annual Golden Globes, 20th Annual Critic's Choice awards, 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild awards, and the 87th Annual Academy awards all of which Jennifer will be attending as a nominee at all of those ceremonies for Best Lead Actress of the Year for her performance as Claire Simmons in the indie/drama film 'Cake'. She will also be attending film premiere's for 'Cake' in theaters everywhere January 23, and indie/comedy film 'She's Funny That Way' in theaters in the U.S. March 20. Will she take the time to pencil in a wedding ceremony? She's already revealed wedding details: a small, private, intimate ceremony said to take place in Hawaii, and the guest list? A breeze - with no more than 50 close friends and family set to attend - however, not invited once again is her mother, Nancy Dow, reportedly the mother and daughter relationship fell through the cracks again for unknown reasons. In the past Aniston's friends have commented, "Every time they invite us over for a get-together we always over-dress because we know if this is night that the two are getting married in a private/secret wedding ceremony." Who knows maybe she'll be on the cover of PEOPLE magazine next year with headlining news like 'Jennifer & Justin Theroux Got Married in a Secret Wedding'. The rest of Miss Aniston's schedule is unpredictable, however, she'll more than likely make some talk show appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, to promote her films.

(2014) Justin at the N.Y. The Leftovers premiere.
On that note, so far Justin's schedule compared to his fiancee's he'll be tied up filming the second season of HBO's drama/fantasy series 'The Leftovers' on location in New York. As of August 13, 2014 it was announced that the series was renewed for a second season. The second season will be completely original material, and the main cast was trimmed from 14 series regulars to 6: with Emily Meade, Amanda Warren, Michael Gaston, Max and Charlie Carver, and Annie Q., all of whom will not be returning. However, guest roles are a possibility; with Live Tyler and Ann Dowd possibly returning. Theroux's also been working with frequent collaborator actor/comedian Ben Still to write the screenplay for comedy film 'Zoolander 2' the sequel to the oh-so successful comedy 'Zoolander', which was released over a decade ago in 2001. Stiller and Theroux have previously worked together on (2008) comedy/action film Tropic Thunder as the screenwriters, but have known each other much longer. We're sure Jennifer and Justin's schedules will meet in the middle so her man can witness her proud moments should she win an award at one of the many award ceremonies Jen is scheduled to attend. We wish the couple nothing but happiness for the year of 2015.

[NEWS] Six Reasons Why Jennifer Could Win the Oscar for 'Cake'

Left: 'Cake' film poster Right: 87th Annual Academy awards
Once considered a long shot for an Oscar nomination, Jennifer Aniston has now received the holy trifecta - nominations for Best Lead Actress of the Year from the Screen Actors Guild awards to the Golden Globes and the Critic's Choice awards. An Academy award nomination seems more and more likely. It's all the more impressive that Aniston has received such attention for a small independent film. In 'Cake', she plays Claire Simmons, a woman who suffers from chronic pain and becomes obsessed with learning more about a member of her support group who committed suicide. Aniston has never been given such a meaty role on the big screen, and she rewards the filmmakers' gamble with a beautiful, heartfelt performance. She has made a lot of progress as a actress in a short time in the race and will likely continue. There are so many factors that go into Academy voting that surprisingly have little to do with the acting at hand.

Here's the list of reasons why Jennifer just might end up taking home the gold on Oscar night:

1.) THE CAMPAIGN
(2014) Jennifer promoting her film 'Cake' at multiple screens and premieres.
Nobody is working harder than Aniston to get word out about the small film. Shes's been coast-to-coast for screenings, interviews and events, and she is always smart, passionate and charming about it.

2.) VOTERS LOVE AN UNDERDOG
(2013) Jennifer at the 85th Annual Oscars red carpet event.
Right now, there is no bigger underdog in the category than Aniston, and there's something exciting about the idea of her winning. Too often, people complain about the predictability in Oscar choices - how the awards feel over before they're ever announced, but unlike years where films such as (2010) "The King's Speech" and (2012) "Argo" emerged as early frontrunners and went on to win, and this year has proven to be one of the most difficult to predict in a long time.

3.) VOTERS REALLY LOVE A TRANSFORMATION

Left: Jennifer looking fab as usual and Right: Jen's make-under for her role as Claire Simmons in 'Cake'.
Much has been made up the fact that Jennifer wore little to no make-up for 'Cake', other than prosthetic scars. She also dresses down in frumpy clothing and sports unwashed hair. She's still 'Jennifer Aniston', so suffice it to say she still looks better than most people on an average day - but, it's the kind of vanity-free performance the Academy loves.

4.) THE COMPETITION
Left: 'Still Alice' film poster and Right: Julianne Moore at 'Still Alice' premiere.
Since the start of the awards season, the perceived frontrunner for Best Lead Actress of the Year has been Julianne Moore for her role as Alice a professor diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 'Still Alice'. While Moore's work is stellar as always, most of the talk is about how four-time nominee is overdue, but there is little doubt that Moore will be back in the race, and this isn't perceived as her last opportunity to win. Other names like 'Wild's Reese Witherspoon, aside from 'Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike, and 'The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones who are considered fairly new, the nomination will be their reward. In short, there doesn't appear to be a passionate fanbase for any particular actress. Which makes Aniston burst into the race last-minute, cast against type in a small movie, and a compelling narrative to get behind.

5.) PUBLIC SENTIMENT
Left: Angelina Jolie at 'Unbroken' premiere and Right: Jennifer at 'Cake' premiere.
It's easy to imagine people rallying behind Jennifer - particularly in a year where Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken' is suppose to be a big player. As one Academy member put it after 'Unbroken' was snubbed at the Globes, "I can't believe the HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) missed out on an opportunity to get them all (Brad, Angelina & Jennifer) in the same room."

6.) THE PERFORMANCE ITSELF
Jennifer on set of 'Cake' as Claire Simmons.
Aniston is fantastic in "Cake", which should be the most obvious as well as important reason why she's worthy of being a nominee. Being a meaty role with so many facets - she nails every scene. In lesser hands, her character Claire could have been exceedingly unsympathetic, shrill or pitiful. Instead, Jennifer played all shades of a complex woman that inhabits her grief so fully we understand and even forgive her character Claire. For every moment where her character's anger drives someone away, there's a sweet, simple scene such as the one in which Claire gives her housekeeper a gentle ego boost. For those of you who dismiss Jen as a mere television star don't realize just how difficult her work on the beloved sitcom "Friends" could be - and how easy she made it look, and for those of you who write Jennifer off as a star, not an actress, forget that some people can be both.

UPDATE: February 22, 2015 she may have been snubbed of her Oscar nomination, but she's a gracious loser and she's a winner in our book.

KEVIN HART - Comedy Star of the Year
HONOR: Comedy Star of the Year
DESCRIPTION: Hart has been owning stages across the country with his stand-up shows, but it's his roles on the big screen that have made him a household name. Basically, if this guy is on a cast list, you can guarantee you'll be laughing out loud in the theater. That was the case for (2014) About Last Night, and it's certainly true for his latest movie, Chris Rock's (2014) Top Five.

LISA KUDROW - TV Performance of the Year, Actress
HONOR: TV Performance of the Year, Actress
DESCRIPTION: Just call her the Comeback kid. After a decade on a little show called (1994-2004) Friends, Kudrow starred in (2005-2005, 2014-present) The Comeback, which gained a cult following, but was cancelled after just one season. Nine years later, it made a, well, comeback, returning to the HBO network this past November. On top of that she's also simultaneously killing it on Showtime's (2011-present) Web Therapy.

KARLIE KLOSS - Model of the Year
HONOR: Model of the Year
DESCRIPTION: If easy to feel like Kloss is your IRL best friend when you see her face everywhere - the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway, campaigns for industry heavyweights like Lancaster Paris and Neiman Marcus, every Fashion Week ever. As if the life of one of the modeling world's most sough-after names could get any cooler: She's IRL best friend with Taylor Swift.

CHLOE GRACE MORTEZ - Next Generation Star
HONOR: Next Generation Star
DESCRIPTION: We'd toast Moretez's impressive talents - from (2010) Kick-Ass to (2014) If I Stay, not to mention nabbing a spot on PEOPLE's  Best Dressed List - but the on-the-rise 17-year old actress is still too young to drink. Whey we can't wait to see what she does next. She's not daunted by challenging roles, telling TIME magazine in an earlier interview, "Acting for me is not just being happy-go-lucky. That's my real life. Acting for me is doing the opposite of who I am."

JON HAMM - TV Performance of the Year, Actor
HONOR: TV Performance of the Year, Actor
DESCRIPTION: Hamm started suiting up on (2007-present) Mad Men in 2007 as dapper advertising executive Don Draper, a role that turned into the ultimate Hollywood breakthrough for the once-struggling actor. He's translated that success to the big screen, where he's taken on roles in hits like (2011) Bridesmaids and (2010) The Town.

KATE HUDSON - Role Model
HONOR: Role Model
DESCRIPTION: She makes movie magic - hello, (2000) Almost Famous and (2003) How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - and her red carpet know-how consistently puts her at the top of PEOPLE's best dressed lists, but we also tip out hats to Hudson for her inspiring as well as unstoppable charitable work. Including her support for her mother's The Hawn Foundation, DonorsChoose and Baby2Baby.

KATE UPTON - Sexiest Woman Alive
HONOR: Sexiest Woman Alive
DESCRIPTION: We've seen Upton wearing (ahem) considerably less clothing - namely when she landed on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue not one, but twice in a row (2012 and 2013). Just as sexy: her instant-viral take on The Rei3ctz's Cat Daddy dance, which racked up more than 21 million views and motivated us to make it to spin class.

JENNIFER ANISTON - Movie Performance of the Year, Actress
HONOR: Movie Performance of the Year
DESCRIPTION: This mighty be the year Aniston adds a very shiny trophy to her collection: The actress is currently beating Oscar buzz for her dramatic turn on the big screen portraying a car-crash survivor/pain kill med addict in (2015) Cake. "It ticked all of the boxes that an actor dreams of," she says of the role humbly adding, "I feel that I've been reacting to the attention awkwardly and stutteringly," in typical Aniston fashion. It's hard not to root for American's sweetheart, who we first fell in love with two decades ago on (1994-2004) Friends and many, many must-watch rom-coms (romantic comedies).

MICHAEL KEATON - Movie Performance of the Year, Actor
HONOR: Movie Performance of the Year, Actor
DESCRIPTION: Keaton has established his stake in this year's Best Actor race in (2014) Birdman, in which he plays a washed-up actor once famous for portraying the film's titular superhero. Consider it the perfect follow-up to his most iconic role: (1989) Batman.

GWEN STEFANI - Style Icon
HONOR: Style Icon
DESCRIPTION: Stefani's rock star wardrobe isn't the only reason we love her - hr hits with No Doubt and her solo endeavors have a permanent spot in our favorite's playlists - but it is why we're wearing red lipstick and leather joggers right now. Her eight-grade self? "I was into ska music, James Dean, and the Latino culture in my Southern California neighborhood," she replied adding, "as a result, I tried to dress outside the box," she said earlier this month . "More than 30 years later, that's still my look."

BILLY EICHNER - Breakout Star of the Year
HONOR: Breakout Star of the Year
DESCRIPTION: The (2011-present) Billy on the Street star always wins us over with his jokes on his viral web series - and that's in addition to the laughs from collaborators like actor Neil Patrick Harris, actress/comedienne Amy Poehler, and actress Olivia Wilde. After a major moment at this year's (2014) 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards with comedian/actor Seth Meyers, the internet jokester secured his place in the comedy world - as well as a spot on PEOPLE's 2014 Ones to Watch list.

MINDY KALING & CHRIS MESSINA - TV Couple of the Year
HONOR: TV Couple of the Year
DESCRIPTION: Frankly, we feel the same way about (2012-present) The Mindy Project's resident romantics as they feel about each other. It's a love story for the ages - you know, two OBGYN's work together and just can't hide their affection - and their quirky on-again-off-again relationship keeps viewers readily tuning in week after week.

NORA SANDIGO - Hero of the Year
HONOR: Hero of the Year
DESCRIPTION: As the founder and executive director of American Faternity, Inc., Sandigo has advocated for the rights of immigrants as well as their families, guiding them to adjusting to American culture no matter what it takes: Sandigo, after all, is a legal guardian for 817 kids - you read right - 817.

JENNIFER LOPEZ - Triple Threat
HONOR: Triple Threat
DESCRIPTION: What can't Lopez do? If you've seen her music video for "Booty" ft. Pitbull from her latest studio album A.K.A. you know the answer: be predictable, which goes against Lopez's talent for evolving her career and taking names. That's why her resumes is the one to beat, spanning from her judging gig on (2011-2012, 2014-2015) American Idol to her new memoir to, of course, her enviable dance floor moves.

[NEWS] Jen Is Announced as a Nominee for the 2015 Golden Globes & Screen Actors Guild awards

2015 May be Jen's year of redemption as a film actress. Her 2010's career has had hits like (2011) 'Horrible Bosses', and (2013) 'We're the Millers'; and misses (2010) action/comedy-romance film The Bounty Hunter - a film that earned several Golden Raspberry award nominations. Although recently film critics and audiences alike have been raging about the actresses performance in her latest drama film 'Cake', which is generating Oscar buzz; she has recently been announced as a nominee for Best Lead Actress on two other award-worthy lists - The 72nd Annual Golden Globe awards and the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild awards. In the category for Best Lead of the Year in a Drama film, Aniston, will be competing against the following actresses: Felicity Jones as Jane Wilde-Hawking in biographical/drama film The Theory of Everything, Julianne Moore as Dr. Alice Howland in drama film Still Alice, Rosamand Pike as Amy Elliott-Dunne in thriller/drama film Gone Girl, and Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl Strayed in drama film Wild. Though we're sure each actress gives award-worthy performances in their own ways you can judge for yourselves by viewing the trailers displayed at the bottom.

JENNIFER ANISTON
Left: (2015) 'Cake' film poster and Right: Jennifer at 'Cake' screening.
She's best known as a television actress, but broke out in film with enduring success as a rom-com actress. This is Aniston's third drama film aside from her previous performances in (2002) The Good Girl, and (2006) Friends with Money. Both of those were independent films as well, and she really thought she had her foot in the door with The Good Girl; which was the actresses first award-worthy film performance. Critics were disappointed - as well as outraged - that the actress's performance was overlooked by the academy after she wasn't at least nominated for an Academy award. It's been five years since the actress earned her Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress on a Comedy Series after making a guest appearance on comedy series 30 Rock, and over a decade since she won her well-deserved Golden Globe for Best Lead Actress of the Year in a Comedy Series for her performance as Rachel Green on NBC's Friends. This is her third general Golden Globe as well as Screen Actors Guild award nomination, but her first of these nominations for film.

FELICITY JONES
Left: (2014) 'The Theory of Everything' film poster and Right: Felicity Jones at 'The Theory of Everything' premiere.
You'd think Jones is a new comer with what seems like the actresses breakout performance, but she's almost an old pro when it comes to film.  She first gained award-worthy recognition for her performance in (2011) romance/drama Like Crazy. Most recently she has co-starred in superhero/action film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Felicia Hardy opposite of actor Andrew Garfield. This is her first Golden Globe as well as Screen Actors Guild award nominations.

'THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING' FILM TRAILER

JULIANNE MOORE
Left: (2014) 'Still Alice' film poster and Right: Julianne Moore at 'Still Alice' premiere.
Active in film since the '90s this is Moore's seventh Golden Globe award nomination, and her fifth Screen Actors Guild award nomination. Her first award-worthy recognized performance was in '97's drama film Boogie Nights, which also earned the actress her first Oscar nomination as well. She's won a Golden Globe as well as a SAG award for her portrayal as Sarah Palin in made-for television film Game Change.

'STILL ALICE' FILM TRAILER

ROSAMUND PIKE
Left: (2014) 'Gone Girl' film poster and Right: Rosamund Pike at 'Gone Girl' premiere.
Pike's first award-worthy performance was when she starred opposite of actor Pierce Brosnan in (2002) spy/action film Die Another Day earning her a Saturn award nomination. This counts as her first Golden Globe nominations, but her second Screen Actors Guild award nomination since her performance in (2009) coming-of-age/drama film An Education

'GONE GIRL' FILM TRAILER

REESE WITHERSPOON
Left: (2014) 'Wild' film poster and Right: Reese Witherspoon at 'Wild' premiere.

If you ask a film critic what her best performance is they'll probably reply "Walk the Line", which is true - to some, and gained her award recognition earning the actress her first Academy award. However, some critics may disagree and tell you "Legally Blonde", which is also true - to some - depending on if you're a fan of her comedic work or her work in drama. This marks her fourth Golden Globe nomination and her second Screen Actors Guild nomination since she earned it in '06 for her performance as June Carter-Cash in Walk the Line, which was over a decade ago already.

[NEWS] Jen's Metamorphosis Role in 'Cake' Could be the Guide to Winning an Oscar

Jennifer on set of "Cake" as Claire.
There's nothing film critic's, audiences, and Oscar voters lover more than transformation. Put a prosthetic nose on actress Nicole Kidman (2002) "The Hours" as Virginia Woolf, and she finally wins an Academy award. Ugly up actress Charlize Theron (2003) "Monster" as Aileen Wuornos, and she's finally kudos-worthy. As much as everyone enjoys watching people play against type roles, there is someone who appreciates it even more - the actor. "As performers we thrive on shape shifting, and cherish the opportunity to unexpectedly delve into characters outside our usual comfort zones," said Aniston. "That's what I've done in a hand full of films and that's what I did in Cake," she continued.

Jennifer & "Cake" director Daniel Barnz.
To that end, 2014 is a year marked by several such notable reinventions. While much has been made of Jennifer's going without make-up as a woman suffering from chronic pain in "Cake", the real talk should center on her daring, raw performance - a portrayal that more than on film critic has called her "Monster". Aniston's transformation included gaining 20lbs extra pounds, wearing baggy clothing, going without make-up, and acting with pure emotion. Speaking of weight gaining - while weight gain or weight loss for any film role is a way to get attention - (2013) "Dallas Buyers Club" actor Matthew McConaughey earned his first Academy award right out of the gate for his portrayal of rodeo cowboy Ron Woodroof a man diagnosed with AIDS given 30 days to live - the performance has to back it up. "I honestly thought I had it," said Jen in reference towards her performance in (2002) "The Good Girl". "I told myself, 'If you ever get the chance to do a drama again you're going to do it right.' ". Aniston got that chance a little over a decade later when director Daniel Barnz had her as the first actress in mind for the role of Claire. Barnz comments of why he chose her for the lead in his film, "Of the zillions of Jennifer Aniston fans, I might be the biggest one of all. I've especially loved her more dramatic performances, and I can't wait to watch her tackle a role that has such a brilliantly funny voice and so much raw pain. She was the first actress that came to mind and I knew I had to cast her. I loved her in The Good Girl, and (2006) Friends with Money, but I felt her performances were overlooked because it's not that they didn't deliver, it's that the characters didn't have show her full range. That is something that she and I worked together on in order to draw out that range in her character for Cake."

Jennifer on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! promoting "Horrible Bosses 2
During the Toronto International Film Festival premiere, the entire cast of the film received a standing ovation, and later social media praised Aniston's performance which has generated a circuit of Oscar buzz. Even late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel commented about Jennifer's performance while she was on his show promoting "Horrible Bosses 2". Kimmel said, [to Aniston] "I went to a screening of your film Cake and it was great! It really is an Oscar worthy performance."
