[NEWS] Jennifer Aniston Is a Member of the AMPAS

Jennifer at the 78th Annual Academy Awards
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a professional honorary organization, maintains a voting membership of over 8,000 as of 2018. Academy membership is divided into different branches, with each representing a different discipline in film production. Actors constitute the largest voting bloc, numbering 1,311 members (22 percent) of the Academy's composition. For those of you who wonder, "Why is Jennifer at the Oscars? She's never won an Academy Award let alone been nominated for one." We have the answer to your question....she's an official member of the AMPAS (more commonly known as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences), and has been since being cordially invited to do so September of 2007. All AMPAS members must be invited to join by the Board of Governors, on behalf of Academy Branch Executive Committees. Membership eligibility may be achieved by a competitive nomination or a member may submit a name based on other significant contributions to the field of motion pictures. New membership proposals are considered annually. The Academy does not publicly disclose its membership, although as recently as 2007 press releases have announced the names of those who have been invited to join: Aniston was among the 150 inductees, 16 of which were Actors including: Adriana Barraza, Steve Carell, Daniel Craig, Aaron Eckhart, Chiwetel Eijofor, William Fichtner, Ryan Gosling, Jackie Earle Haley, Jennifer Hudson, Danny Huston, Eddie Murphy, Christopher Plummer, James Rebhorn, Michael Sheen and Maribel Verdu.
