Earlier this month on the 8th of November the actress attended the 6th Annual Governors awards hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also known as the AMPAS accompanied by her fiance screenwriter/actor Justin Theroux on the red carpet. This ceremony takes place before the main Academy awards. Since its inception, the event has become a major red carpet stop for many prospective Oscar hopefuls, including actors and filmmakers, and is, in some ways, the first major stop of the seasonal Award Circuit. Two of the films producers of Cake, Kristin Hahn and Mark Canton, issued the following statement regarding the films release date, "We've decided to have an earlier release during the last week of the month of December of 2014 with hopes that the film will qualify for the Oscar race and gain recognition from the Academy. It will be released internationally in January of 2015."

The audience at the previous Cinema Society & InStyle screening were in awe of Jennifer's performance - and she is getting overwhelmed by the Oscar buzz. When asked about her reaction to it all Aniston replied, "The praise is awkward," she explained, "and...and..I'm flattered and humbled." Jennifer, who plays against character as a woman who survives a horrific car accident leaving her scared on the inside and out - as a result of her accident it left a large facial scar on the left side of her character's cheek - Jennifer said, "I've been waiting for a long time for such a role. I gave myself about six weeks to really just disappear and connect with the character as well as the trauma, which is unthinkable. I was just so excited and I ticked all the boxes in the actor dream role." Justin didn't attend her screening, but he did catch up with her at the after party. "Justin is very sweet and loving and supportive," said the actress of her fiance regarding her career. Meanwhile, Theroux has a second season of HBO's drama series The Leftovers in the works. It's been set to be shot on location in New York, but no official shooting dates have been released.
