[NEWS] Successful Actor's Who've Debuted in Horror Films

You know and love them today, but some of today's actors weren't always well-known. Here are some actors who made their film debut in horror films including Golden Globe award winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, Golden Globe award winning actor Johnny Depp, Oscar winning actress Patricia Arquette, and Emmy winning actress Jennifer Aniston.

The independent slasher/horror film Halloween made Jamie Lee Curtis known as - "The Queen of Scream" for her debut film role as Laurie Strade. She reprized her role in the film sequels including (1981) Halloween II, (1982) Halloween III: Season of the Witch, (1998) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and (2002) Halloween: Resurrection making it one of her well-known roles. Her other well-known credits include (1988) A Fish Called Wanda, (1994) True Lies, and (2003) Disney Channel re-make Freaky Friday.

Now Hollywood-hunk, a bona fide film star, and a Golden Globe award winning actor then unknown Johnny Depp made his film debut as Glen Lantz in the supernatural slasher/horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street, what is now a cult-classic as well as one of the 1,001 films you must watch before you die. It went on to spawn several sequel films including (1985) A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, (1987) A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, (1988) A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, (1989) A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, (1991) Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, (1994) Wes Craven's New Nightmare, (2003) Freddy vs. Jason, and (2010) re-make A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Current Oscar winning actress Patricia Arquette made her film debut in sequel slasher/fantasy film A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors as Kristen Paker. She went on to star in television and film such as (1993) True Romance, (1997) Lost Highway, (2005-2011) television series Medium, and (2014) Boyhood; which earned her multiple awards for Best Supporting Actress of the Year including a Critic's Choice award, Golden Globe, Independent Spirit award, Satellite award, and a Screen Actors Guild award.

Originally intended to direct-to-video the horror/fantasy/thriller film made it to the silver screen. With the casting director having wanted to go with a blonde girl, after some convincing the film company went with, none other than future "Friends" actress Jennifer Aniston, for the role of Tory Redding. She made her film debut in the horror/fantasy/thriller film Leprechaun, which went on to spawn several more sequels including: (1994) Leprechaun 2, (1995) Leprechaun 3, (1997) Leprechaun 4: In Space, (2000) Leprechaun : In the Hood, (2003) Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, (2012) Leprechaun's Revenge, and (2014) Leprechaun: Origins; none of which Aniston star in.
