"Jennifer Aniston will star opposite Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro in the upcoming film 'The Comedian'. Despite the movie's title it will be a dramatic film, with plans to begin production in New York early this year. Art and John Linson will produce the project with Courtney Soloman and Atmosphere's Mark Canton, who are both financing. Taylor Hackford will direct from Art Linson's script. This marks De Niro's second time playing a comedian. The other movie was Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy in 1982 when De Niro played Rupert Pupkin.

In 'The Comedian' De Niro will play a Don Rickles-style stand-up comic who specializes in insults, with the script's stand-up material written by Comedy Central Roast mainstay Jeffrey Ross. Aniston will play a woman who becomes close to the comic after meeting him at a wedding. The story plot line is a typical older man falls in love with a younger woman scenario. Jennifer is currently shooting the Kevin Powers adapted novel 'The Yellow Birds' in Morrocco, and is represented by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Group.

De Niro was last seen on the big-screen in Warner Bros. 'The Intern' opposite Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway, which was a rom-com directed by Nancy Meyers. He is currently starring in the indie/comedy film 'Joy' as the father of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence's character. 'The Comedian' has yet to have a scheduled released date, but it will definitely hit theaters in 2016 according to multiple reliable sources."
