The actress has generated an enormous following spawning dozens of Twitter and Instagram accounts dedicated to her every move created by loyal fans, but Aniston admits to avoiding social media in all its forms - and likens the cultural obsession with mobile phones to a smoker's need for cigarettes.
When asked why she stays off social media she openly admitted, "Honestly, when I look around and see people constantly on their phones, I feel like we're missing so much. And it's something we created. I equate it to be tobacco industry; it's hard enough being a kid growing up and becoming who you are and finding yourself but now you have social media and you've added this extra pressure of seeing if someone likes or doesn't like something you did. We're creating these man-made challenges it's such a drag." She concludes that people are so into their phones - with their constantly checking - it's like an addiction similar to that of people who can't go without smoking a cigarette. Aniston herself, use to be a chain-smoker, but gave up the habit in 2012.
